Angular Contact ball bearings are non-separable type bearings. Single row angular contact ball bearings are self-retaining units with solid inner and outer rings and ball and cage assemblies with polyamide, sheet steel or brass cages. The raceways of the inner and outer rings are offset in relation to each other in the direction of the bearing axis. The line connecting the contact points of the steel ball and inner ring and the ball and outer ring create an angle with the line drawn in the radial direction called the contact angle. It is defined as the angle between the line joining the points of contact of the ball and the raceways in the radial plane, along which the load is transmitted from one raceway to another, and a line perpendicular to the bearing axis. The standard contact angle is 30°, however, the "B" suffix bearings have a 40° contact angle.

Single row angular contact bearings are designed for combination radial and axial loading. They have high thrust capacity in one direction and their self-alignment capacity is very small. For instance, under radial loads, force acting in the axial direction is produced in the bearing, and this force must be counteracted. Consequently the bearing is normally adjusted against a second bearing by mounting it against a second angular contact bearing or a conventional bearing.

Single row angular contact ball bearings are manufactured in various constructive versions, with various contact angles, depending on the application. At Precision Bearings, we have single row angular contact ball bearings available with specifications as provided in the table above.
